As part of their yearly program plan during the Jubilee Year of Mercy, The Association Jeanne Jugan in Pawtucket, in addition to working on the spiritual and corporal works of mercy, also focused on fostering vocations.
They reached out to local parishes and schools and assisted the Sisters in hosting three special vocation events throughout the year. The last one they organized was a Come and See evening on November 12. St Phillips Parish in Greenville, RI responded by sending 11 young women of high school age from a youth group called, G.I.G.G.L.E.S which stands for Girls in God Giving love eating sharing. For some, it was their second or third visit here.
The evening began with a meet and greet session followed by a tour of the Home. They joined us for evening prayer and then split up to serve the evening meal to the Residents in all three dining rooms.
Before supper, we showed them Love Serves followed by question and answers. The highlight of the evening was sharing supper with these faith filled energetic girls. They freely talked about their relationship with God and the working of the Holy Spirit in their lives. The Sisters were very impressed by their spiritual maturity and joy. Some of the girls took volunteer applications. They joined us for night prayer and then we bid our goodbyes. A few of the girls in the group sing in a Christian harmony group and we hope to schedule them to come during the Christmas Season to sing for the Residents.
