Our Holy Father Pope Francis proclaimed this the Year of Consecrated Life. On Sunday, December 7, the Diocese of Providence organized Opening Prayer Service. Various religious communities and local Churches celebrated the rich contributions of religious men and women as they strive to build the Kingdom of God on Earth.
Quoting from Bishop Tobin’s words, “Our brothers and sisters living consecrated lives make great contributions to our Diocese through their witness of faith and through a vast number of ministries. They teach in our schools, take care of the poor and the sick, and bring compassion and the love of Christ to those shunned by society. This special Year will be a time to thank the Lord for the prayers and sacrifices of the men and women religious who daily give of themselves for others.”
After praying the Office of Evening Prayer, a light reception was offered in the Parish Hall. It was a fraternal gathering of all the Religious present, which was enjoyed by all.
