On Wednesday May 25, Jeanne Jugan Residence in Pawtucket, RI celebrated International Day. Residents, staff and volunteers shared a meal of dishes from many nations, ranging from Portuguese soup, Greek spanakopita, Cape Verde rice and fish dishes, Polish golomki (stuffed cabbage), French meat pie, Italian lasagna and spicy delicacies from India like samosas.
The meal was set up buffet style in our auditorium, served by employees dressed in their native costumes.
Staff and volunteers helped our Residents to make their choices, and escorted them back to the dining room.
For the faint of heart, the staples of salad, baked stuffed shrimp, chicken and potato salad were available for sampling. The array of desserts (for those who still had an appetite) like flan, rice pudding, fruit and ambrosia made the day complete.
A great day for all whether you say Bom apetite! or Bon appetit! or Smacznego!
