“Autumn blessings” were certainly abundant on September 25th as many Residents, Sisters, staff, and volunteers traveled to Colt State Park in Bristol, RI for one last outing before the weather turns too cold. God certainly heard the prayers for good weather, because we couldn’t have picked a better day – 70 degrees, sunny, with just a bit of an ocean breeze. Perfect!
The Residents enjoyed shish kabobs, corn on the cob, sweet potato salad, and pumpkin pie. It may have taken a while for the shish kabobs to cook, but was it ever worth the wait! Afterwards, we all went down to the water to enjoy the beautiful view of Narragansett Bay, and talk with other folks in the park that were enjoying the day as well.
Outings such as this tend to stir up fond memories of the past as Residents reminisced about other visits they had made to the park in years gone by. Later in the afternoon, we enjoyed a game of bean bag toss, while being cheered on by the crowd. As the afternoon faded, we all headed back on the buses for a well deserved rest. Many thanks to all those who assisted in organizing and making this day a wonderful success!
