The Congregational Prayer Chain for Vocations was held in Pawtucket on July 20. The theme for the day: Vocation Prayer Blast to the Heart of Jesus & Mary began with morning Mass at 9:00am followed by exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Everyone in the Home was involved in this prayer blast to the heavens!
At 10:00am the rosary was recited every half hour in the chapel by a different unit of residents, the AJJ, volunteers, employees, and sisters all took their turns praying before our Lord and interceding to Mary to send workers into his vineyard. Benediction was at 1:30pm and then everyone took a little break until 3:00pm.
We planned then to go outside to the Shine of Our Lady of Fatima to recite another rosary but the weather proved to be too hot so everyone again gathered in the chapel for the final rosary of the day. Afterwards, we all proceeded outside for a few moments, regardless of the very hot weather, for our final prayer of the afternoon, a rosary balloon lift. The rosary was rather large so it took a combination of Residents, sisters, employees, AJJ, and volunteers to carry our helium blue and yellow rosary outside! After a Hail Mary and a one, two, three, everyone let go of the rosary at the same time and watched our prayers soar to the heavens! What a grace filled day we all had and we felt the spirit of St. Jeanne Jugan was with us in a special way! Oh Lord of the harvest send workers into your vineyard!
