St. Patrick’s Day Carry Out!
For more than a decade, The Old Grist Mill Tavern has hosted the Little Sisters of the Poor St. Patrick’s Day fundraiser.
This year, in the midst of the current Covid climate, the format was CARRY OUT! Proprietor Greg Esmay and the OGM staff, along with many vendors, volunteers, and benefactors, all contributed to the success of the event in support of our mission.
We remain grateful to Greg and Sue Esmay for their many years hosting the event for us. In addition, we thank the many vendors for their contributions to the dinner, as well as volunteers from Jeanne Jugan Residence, AJJ, and the Navigant Credit Union VForce.
This year we honored the memory of Sister Gertrude, the Little Sister beggar at Jeanne Jugan Residence for more than thirty years, who passed away in December 2020. Sister Gertrude and Greg launched the event many years ago in an effort to raise funds to replace a broken boiler at the Residence. The dinner began as a small affair at our Home and has since grown into an all-day celebration.
The Carry Out format worked out quite nicely now the general public has become accustomed to restaurant take-out so we were able to carry on the tradition which was canceled last year due to the pandemic. Whether purchasing tickets for the dinner, pot of gold chances, the Little Sisters famous scones, or by sending generous donations from afar, we remain grateful to the many friends and benefactors for their generosity and support year after year.
May God bless you all for your generous support of our mission.
