During the month May we pay a special tribute to all mothers, living and deceased, in gratitude for their nurturing and caring ways throughout our lives. On May 10, we decided to have a Mother’s Day Tea Party for all our Residents.
Most Residents invited their daughters and a few their sons! Others invited nieces or granddaughters. Associates and volunteers accompanied our Residents who were without family. This day was such a success that over 95 people filled our dining room that was richly decorated in pink and white, chinaware and gorgeous white roses as centerpieces.
Hostesses lead each party to their assigned table but not before they had the opportunity to pick from an array of lovely spring hats! Hands up to our kitchen staff for the large assortment of sandwiches, hors d’ourves and desserts! Each table was served tea from a collection of china teapots of different themes, which made way for interesting table conversions.
To top off the afternoon, we invited a harpist to softly play throughout the party. One of our staff members said “our Resident ladies deserve to feel pampered and special and I hope we accomplished that.” By the laughter, excitement and jubilant spirit that filled the air, I believe they did!
