Happy Feast Day!
Yesterday we celebrated the Feast Day of our Mother Foundress with our Jeanne Jugan Family, beginning with Mass in the morning, a movie and cool sherbet floats in the afternoon, and evening Rosary in the courtyard.
During Mass, Father Quigley shared this excerpt from the Homily of Pope John Paul II from the Beatification of Jeanne Jugan nearly 40 years ago:
“You could say that she received from the Holy Spirit what may be called a prophetic intuition of the needs and deep desires of the elderly:
their desire to be respected, esteemed and loved; their fear of loneliness and at the same time their wish for a certain independence and privacy;
their longing to still feel themselves useful; and very often, a strong desire to deepen their life of faith.”
We love our elderly family! Yes, it is our vocation, and our joy. It is a path traced out to us by our Mother Foundress – – – the humble service of those whom Jesus
recognizes and cherishes. She said, “Care for them well, because it is Jesus whom you care for in them.”
See the small basket in the photo above? It is filled with your many intentions which, as promised, were placed at the foot of the altar in our chapel. We pray for you
every day, especially during the Novena and on this special Feast Day of Jeanne Jugan.
Finally, the Little Sisters – – Big Bucks raffle tickets were drawn and the winners announced. Congratulations to the winners! and thank you all for your participation to help us with the new Nurse Call System.
Saint Jeanne Jugan, pray for us!
Happy Feast Day!
