The Slater Park Fall Festival has been a Pawtucket tradition for years, but this year it became a new tradition for the Little Sisters of the Poor thanks to Judy, a very talented and resourceful Resident.
Encouraged by her sister, a gifted quilter, Judy decided to learn the art of quilting herself during the quiet days of the pandemic. Dusting off her sewing machine, dedicating space on her dining table, and later connecting with local quilting resources, Judy created the most beautiful, colorful, intricately designed quilts over these past few years.
Judy’s goal was to sell the quilts during the Little Sisters of the Poor annual Christmas Bazaar and Craft Fair but the event has been canceled due to the pandemic. Rather than wait until 2023, Judy reserved a table at the festival and with the help of her family, she set up a wonderful display which caught the eye of quilt and craft lovers.
What a joy Judy had in presenting the proceeds to Mother Patricia in support of the Little Sisters of the Poor. Better than Christmas!
Next stop: The Saint John Paul II Christmas Fair Saturday, November 19!
