For our Feathered Friends
With the winter approaching the timing couldn’t have been more perfect! A gift of a miniature Chapel to protect our feathered friends from the cold.
Don and Joan are quite familiar with escaping from the cold. Snowbirds themselves they retired to Florida several years ago. These days, retirement is no longer associated with all-day relaxation, rather, many retirees discover new passions, new hobbies, new activities. For Don that discovery was designing and crafting birdhouses. Former New England residents many designs relate to local sports teams, the Patriots, the Red Sox, etc., and once the word out orders from friends and family were through the roof!
The birdhouse Don and Joan presented to us is a replica of a Church in Southern Rhode Island where they attended a wedding. Inspired by its simplistic beauty, Don crafted one as a wedding gift for the bride and groom. Later, their daughter Kim, a member of our staff, suggested a duplicate as a gift to our Home.
It is a treasure indeed. Look closely and you will see the roof made of real shingles, the steeple Cross a crucifix from Rosary beads, and a statue of St. Anne and the Virgin Mary as a child near the entrance.
Thank you, Don, Joan, and Kimberly for this precious gift!
