Feasts of All Saints & All Souls
Each year for the Feast of All Saints, Residents enjoy our display of Saints including St. Patrick, St. Anne, St. Jude, St. Mother Teresa, Pope St. John Paul II, St. Jeanne Jugan, and more! As we gathered for Mass, Sister Elizabeth Anne led us in hymns of praise and of consolation as we celebrated and commemorated All Saints and All Souls.
During Mass on the Feast of All Saints, Father Quigley reminded us that we have one communion of saints as well as our own personal communion of saints – parents, grandparents, siblings, friends, all kinds of holy people who have been part of our lives, and who have influenced us as a people of faith.
On All Souls Day, Father reflected on the understandable human conditions of sadness, confusion and loneliness that we feel upon the death of a loved one. However, because of our faith, we have a unique interpretation of death. We see and understand and believe that death is not the end, rather a separation, and that the great promise of our faith, a gift from God, is that one day we will be our loved ones again.
We prayed for all the deceased members of our Jeanne Jugan Family, especially those who were called home to God during the past year and for whom a memorial candle was placed on the Altar in special remembrance.
