“Making the elderly happy, that is what counts.” These simple words of our foundress, Saint Jeanne Jugan, are the guiding words for the Little Sisters of the Poor and our staff. Whatever the changes in our society, whatever the circumstances, the greatest need of the elderly is to be loved and respected. 



We have been giving compassionate care to elderly men and woman who have outlived their resources since 1881. During those years, thousands of elderly from all walks of life, of all religions and beliefs, have made their home with us.

As Little Sisters of the Poor, we care for the elderly poor in the spirit of humble service which we have received from Saint Jeanne Jugan. We welcome the elderly as we would Jesus Christ himself and serve them with love and respect until God calls them home.
