Independence Day
Each year on Independence Day all of us at Jeanne Jugan Residence enjoy a traditional, old fashioned, summertime barbecue. This year was no exception despite the coronavirus pandemic. Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Ice Cream were on the menu and we all enjoyed a fun and festive afternoon.
Independence Day also has new meaning this year, that is, we are now “free” to open our doors for limited family visits. Taking every necessary precaution to insure the health and safety of our Residents and their families, our guests complete a comprehensive checklist, temperatures are taken, and each is given protective covering to wear in addition to their masks.
Whatever it takes to make it possible for our Residents to see their loved ones in person after so much time. As Saint Jeanne Jugan often said, “Making the elderly happy, that is what counts.”
