Furry and Feathered Friends
October 4th is the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi and adjacent to the entrance of Jeanne Jugan Residence, St. Francis greets everyone who lives at, works at, or visits our home. We like to believe that he is especially welcoming to Una, Ollie, Francis, and Lily – the therapy pets of Jeanne Jugan Residence.
At their first meeting, many of our residents are timid, some nervous. But with a little coaxing, these gentle, friendly, and sometimes funny, furry friends, melt the hearts of our elderly family.
Most of all, they are so very intuitive. For instance, Francis follows Sister Laurelliya everywhere! And after some very busy days and nights, when Sister takes a rest, Francis does too!
Let’s not forget the birds in the garden! Joe faithfully feeds the sparrows and robins every day!
