What a blessing it was for our Home in Pawtucket to be designated to celebrate the feast day of Mother Margaret Regina, our provincial superior! Residents, staff, volunteers, AJJ members and our Little Sisters celebrated this joyous occasion with two full days of events.
Upon her arrival at dinner time on Tuesday, Mother Provencial greeted everyone in our main dining room with her angelic smile bearing gifts for all our residents. Later that afternoon a variety show was held in our auditorium. Residents were delighted to dress as St. Theresa of Liseux, Mother Theresa and even St. Jeanne Jugan as they presented “A Nun’s Story” expressing their gratitude that Mother Margaret Regina chose to follow her call to serve the elderly.
On Wednesday, fifty-five Little Sisters representing seven homes from within our province joined us for Mass in our chapel. Celebrant Rev. Joseph Paquette led us in prayer as our community gathered together giving thanks to our Lord for providing us with Mother Provencial and her loving guidance and chrism. Someone remarked afterward that hearing the sisters voices joined in song as they drifted through the corridors of the home was absolutely angelic.
The Sisters gathered together in our beautifully decorated dining room to enjoy a delicious buffet dinner. After which, the highlight of the week was enjoyed outside, under the large tent – an old fashioned Carnival! Even though the afternoon was a warm one, residents, staff and ALL the Sisters enjoyed cotton candy and popcorn, a juggling show, arcade games of ring toss, skee ball and a “Dunk the Staff Member” booth that was quite popular on such a hot afternoon! Many weeks of preparation and hard work were put into the week’s events and it was all worth it seeing the smiles and hearing the laughter from the residents and sisters.
Happy Feast Day Mother Provencial! May God continue to fill you with His love and blessings.
