Father’s Day 2015

  • June 24, 2015

St. Joseph is the patron saint of fathers, and the ideal saint to reflect on for Father’s Day.  As the father of Jesus, and the husband of Mary, the Blessed Mother, Joseph stands out as the father above all other fathers. Joseph took the time to teach his son the skills of the carpentry trade; he was his teacher, mentor, and role model. Fathers need to set their children on the right path to be good Christians and make constructive contributions to society.  May his holy life and great deeds be an example to inspire the fathers of today.

Although the days of raising their children are behind them, our residents who are fathers still deserve a day of praise and honor.  On June 23, our home treated the male residents and our staff to a Father’s Day cookout on the back patio.  The weather cooperated beautifully with abundant sunshine for the noontime meal.  Hamburgers, hot dogs and potato salad were enjoyed in good company.  Some dads really “kicked back” and enjoyed a cold beer.

St. Joseph, Pray for us!
