2017 Easter Carnival

  • May 11, 2017

Come one! Come all! To the first Jeanne Jugan Residence Easter Carnival!

On April 19, Residents, Sisters, employees, and volunteers gathered together to celebrate the hope and joy of the Risen Christ!

Our afternoon began with a festive pick up lunch shared by all. Hot dogs, hamburgers, corn on the cob and many side salads were beautifully prepared by our talented kitchen staff. After our meal all excitedly entered our auditorium which was transformed into a fun Carnival theme. Our festival midway hosted many games for the residents to play including Penny Pitch, Clown Down, Basketball, and Spin the Wheel. Students from the Woodlawn Regional Catholic School, our special guests for the day, staffed each game. A combination of luck and skill enabled Residents to win plastic eggs which contained a slip of paper revealing their prize. Trinkets, toiletries, lottery tickets or a chance to dip into the “money bag,” were some of the prizes awarded.

Residents also had the opportunity to have their picture taken with a real Easter bunny! Bailey, a black and white French Lop rabbit was placed on the residents laps while they posed for pictures wearing their choice of a dressy Easter bonnet. The pictures made a wonderful memento of the day.

Our dedicated volunteers scooped ice cream at the concession stand. Residents had their choice of several toppings. Fresh popped popcorn and candy was served also.

After the games and refreshments, all were entertained by magic performed by The Great Baldini. Residents wondered out loud, “How did he do that?” A truly amazing performance!

Our first ever Easter Carnival allowed everyone in the Home to come together as a family and share in the spirit of this beautiful season. Alleluia!
