MAY GOD BLESS YOU A HUNDREDFOLD!

Long line of rescue vehicles on Sayles Avenue, Pawtucket.

Jeanne Jugan Residence was impacted by Tropical Storm Isaias, the storm disrupting power, followed by a failure of the back-up generator. Because of the swift response of our staff and volunteers, we put into action our Disaster Emergency Plan – drills for which we practice every year. We are truly blessed to have such dedicated individuals working at our Home.

We are deeply grateful for the rapid response of fire and rescue teams from Pawtucket and around the state – Central Falls, Coventry, Cumberland, East Providence, Johnston, Lincoln, North Kingstown, North Providence, and Providence. Emergency vehicles were lined up on Main Street and on Sayles Avenue with countless EMTs at the ready. With their help, several Residents were transferred to alternate facilities the evening of the storm.

We are equally thankful for the medical personnel at those facilities – The Miriam Hospital, Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, and The Linn Healthcare Center, who received our elderly family with compassion and care, and others offered to open their doors to assist us. Our Residents have since returned to our Home, safe and sound.

We were the beneficiaries of the exceptional coordination efforts and guidance of the Pawtucket Emergency Management Agency and are grateful for the Agency’s procurement of a temporary generator. Moreover, as a participant in the Long Term Care Mutual Aid Plan (LTC-MAP) we witnessed the emergency plan in action, reassured by the commitment of partner facilities and organizations.

We are also grateful to the many families, friends and benefactors for their calls of concern and offers of financial support, especially as we endeavor to purchase a new generator which will insure the health, safety, and comfort of our Residents for decades to come.

To the dedicated men and women who came to our rescue in this time of need, the Sisters and I offer our heartfelt gratitude for your kindness, selflessness, and heroism. Be assured of our prayers for you. These are challenging times indeed and we are grateful for the many sacrifices you make each and every day. May God bless you a hundredfold!
