Dear Jeanne Jugan Community,
As the winter season approaches, the RI DOH is providing guidance in regards to mitigating risk for COVID-19 as influenza has similar symptoms. Over the past two weeks, the nurses started to immunize all residents for influenza. The Home has also had flu clinics for staff and the apartment Residents.
The Home continues to have surveillance testing for all staff weekly. All results from last week’s surveillance testing were negative. One staff member, recently tested positive, after being exposed to another individual with a COVID-19 positive result. We Praise the Lord, that the staff member and family are feeling well. This incident has posed minimal risk to our community and we continue to follow the RI DOH guidance in reducing risk by wearing face coverings, good hand hygiene and social distancing.
There have been some changes in hospital protocols and so Residents are no longer being tested upon discharge. New Resident admissions or readmissions to the Home will be tested and will also need to quarantine for 14 days.
We continue to be grateful for all your prayers and support during this time. We are Blessed and remain optimistic that we will soon have a vaccine in the upcoming year.
