Dear Jeanne Jugan Community,
In our continued efforts to ensure that our community is informed about the new directives from the RI Department of Health (DOH), we will continue to send information to our families, friends, staff and Residents. Our third round of COVID 19 testing for all staff and Residents was completed on Wednesday, June 10, 2020. This was a directive from the RI DOH that long term care facilities will continue surveillance testing every seven to fourteen days. The collection of data from the surveillance of all long term care facilities including nursing homes and assisted living facilities facilitates the infection disease experts’ ability to tract the spread of the virus and provide specific guidelines mitigation of risk and infection prevention.
We are most grateful once again, that all of our Residents and employees tested negative and have not shown any signs or symptoms of the virus. We continue our vigilance in screening employees and Residents daily and following the RI DOH and CDC guidelines regarding infection prevention. In fact, the RI DOH completed an infection control survey on June 2nd, 2020. The Home did not receive any deficiencies. The only additional recommendation was to offer face coverings for Residents when they leave their rooms.
Although the state has eased the public restrictions regarding the “stay at home” orders, nursing homes are still on “lock-down.” We thank you for your continued understanding and compliance in following the guidelines, especially with regard to delivering packages. With the state allowing the Home to receive packages, we have been blessed with many recent donations for our Residents. The Sisters and I thank you for your continued support through these challenging times.
